The following discloses the information gathering, use, and dissemination practices for the website Contratados.org (“the Site”), and its host Centro de los Derechos del Migrante, Inc. (“CDM”). CDM reserves the right to modify the information contained herein at anytime without prior notice. If we do make changes to our Privacy Policy, we will modify this page accordingly. Check this page periodically for amendments. This Site and all information and materials on it are provided to you “as is” without warranty of any kind.
YOUR USE OF THE SITE OR YOUR PROVISION TO US OF ANY PERSONAL INFORMATION OR OTHER CONTRIBUTION CONSTITUTES YOUR AGREEMENT TO THESE TERMS AND ANY SUBSEQUENT CHANGES TO THESE TERMS; DO NOT USE THE SITE OR CONTRIBUTE INFORMATION IF YOU DO NOT AGREE WITH ALL OF THE TERMS.
Browsing
As with many websites, the Site collects data when you browse, read, or download information. Information collected includes but is not limited to your IP address, URL request, browser type, and date and time.
CDM analyzes traffic to the Site in various ways, including using Google Analytics. (Google Analytics is subject to the privacy policy of Google, Inc., which you can find on their website.) CDM uses this information to generate statistics and measure Site activity to improve the usefulness of the Site to our visitors. Unless you affirmatively provide additional information to us, the Site does not collect or store personally identifiable information such as name, mailing address, email address, or phone number.
We collect the IP addresses of visitors, time of access, browser type, and web pages visited. The Site collects this information on an aggregate basis. For example, the Site tracks which pages are most visited among visitors as a whole. The Site does not track information on which pages an individual user visits. The Site does not collect any other information without your knowledge and permission.
Information You Provide
Any information you voluntarily contribute, including your personal information, may be used or requested to perform research, improve usability of the Site, administer mailing lists or online communities, enhance the security of the Site, comply with legal obligations, or other activities related to the Site.
Email Sign-Up
The Site offers you the opportunity to sign up for an email list. If you choose to voluntarily sign up for an email list, the information you provide to CDM will be stored in our internal database, which is password protected. We will not share your contact information or name with anyone outside of CDM. We will use the contact information you provided to send periodic alerts via email and/or text message related to labor recruitment and temporary migrant employment in the U.S.
Contributing Your Content
When you contribute content, your contributions will be publicly shared, and all such sharing of information is done at your risk. Therefore, please keep in mind that if you disclose personal information in your contributions and elsewhere, this information will become publicly available. Your contributions will be figured into aggregate data about use of Site and aggregate information labor recruitment of Mexican nationals to work in the United States. CDM retains the right to access your contributions for site maintenance and research purposes. CDM retains the right to disaggregate information you contribute for purposes of analysis and research.
To contribute your content to the Site, you may either contribute anonymously or by creating a User Account (“account”). If you create an account, you may use a pseudonym, though we will request an email address so that you can reset your password when needed. If you create an account, the Site will store the information you choose to provide. If you do not create an account, the Site will still store your IP address.
If you use our Hotline Function to contribute via voice message or SMS on the Site, you may either contribute anonymously or by creating an account. If you choose to contribute a voice message or SMS anonymously, we will not store your phone number; however, the Drupal platform-based vojo.co uses a third-party service called Tropo which will store your information, your mobile phone company will also have a record that you called, and the government(s) may also create records of your call. If you choose to create an account when you contribute via voice message or SMS, your mobile number will be stored in the Vojo.co database.
Uploading Materials
If you upload Materials ("Materials") such as photos, those Materials and other information relating thereto will be visible to other users. Uploading Materials and information is done at your risk. Please keep in mind that Materials and information relating thereto may become publicly available. CDM retains the right to review, analyze, and disaggregate Materials you upload for purposes of analysis and research. CDM also retains the right to review uploaded Materials for purposes of determining whether a Contribution abides by the Terms [hyperlink: Terms of Use & Privacy Policy page]. If you have any questions about sharing of Materials that you are uploading, consult a lawyer.
Disclosure of Information
Available log records and all data stored on our servers may be accessed by our system administrators. CDM reserves the right to access Materials and Your Content for purposes of research and Site maintenance. If you have any questions about documents or information you are uploading and/or contributing, consult a lawyer.
CDM may use information you provide without identifying you as an individual to third parties. CDM may do this for research purposes, to evaluate and optimize the Site as well as to share information between other projects of CDM.
We do not disclose Personal Information to third parties, except when one or more of the following conditions is true:
- We have your permission to make the disclosure;
- The disclosure is consistent with the purpose for which the personal information was obtained;
- The disclosure is permitted by relevant law;
- The Personal Information to be disclosed is publicly available;
- The disclosure is in our sole discretion necessary for the establishment or maintenance of legal claims or legal compliance, to satisfy any law, regulation, subpoena or government request, or in connection with litigation;
- The disclosure is in our sole discretion about users who we believe are engaged in illegal activities or are otherwise in violation of the Terms, even without a subpoena, warrant or court order; or
- The disclosure is to outside businesses to perform certain services for us, such as maintaining our Site and Services or data analysis.
In the event that we are required by law (including a court order) to disclose the information you contribute, we will provide you with notice, to the extent we are able to contact you given the limited personal information we collect or that you provide, (unless we are prohibited) that a request for your information has been made so that you may object to the disclosure. If you do not challenge the disclosure request yourself, we may be legally required to turn over any identifying information we have.
Use of Information
The information the Site collects is used in a variety of ways, including for internal review; to improve the Site; to verify the legitimacy of Contributions and Content; and internal analysis or other purposes consistent with the mission of the Site and CDM.
Cookies
The Site may use session cookies while your browser is open, or while you are on the Site. Cookies are small files used by the server and browser to keep track of information about a user; they can be used to significantly increase the usability of a site. The Site may use Cookies to recognize when you return to the Site. We will not use tracking software other than Cookies to determine state for each individual session.

Children’s Privacy
CDM does not intend the Site to be used by individuals under the age of 18 without the supervision of a parent or guardian 18 years of age or older. CDM relies upon parents or guardians 18 years of age or older to determine if the Site is appropriate for the viewing, access, or participation by such individuals under the age of 18. If an individual under the age of 18 uses the Site, such individual may only use the Site under the supervision of a parent or guardian 18 years of age or older.
This Site’s content is intended for adults and we will not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 years of age. Contributing
Contributing or updating content is a public action, and all content may be publicly visible. Identification of all contributed content may include, but is not limited to, display of your IP address. Other users may be able to identify you if you include personal information in the content you post publicly. All your content may be retained for restorative, archival, or research purposes by CDM. Editing or deleting content may alter the displayed state of the content, but will not permanently delete the content from the Site.
Security
The Site has security measures in place to protect the loss, misuse and alteration of the information under our control. However, your confidential use of the Site cannot be guaranteed by CDM. CDM shall not be responsible for any harm that you or any person may suffer as a result of a breach of confidentiality in respect to your use of the Site or any information you transmitted to the Site.
