CDM statement on the pardoning of Joe Arpaio
CDM denounces President Trump’s pardon of former Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio as yet another attack on immigrants and migrant workers. In pardoning a shameless spokesperson for racism and serial violator of basic civil and constitutional rights, President Trump has reaffirmed his commitment to anti-immigrant policies at the cost of rights that apply to everyone in the United States. Trump’s decision is another in a series of actions that show his contempt for immigrants and the rule of law, undermining the values of freedom and justice that unite our nation.
We demand that the Trump administration end its spiteful, anti-immigrant, anti-worker agenda and focus instead on protecting the most vulnerable people in our country, rather than further endangering them.
