To avoid becoming a victim of recruitment fraud, always verify job openings in the United States
People seeking temporary work in the United States through H-2A and H-2B visas face serious difficulties during their recruitment process. The most common problem is deception about job offers that do not exist, that is: Fraud.
However, there are several resources available to help you verify temporary job offers that promise visas for work in the United States. There also exists additional resources to report abuse during the recruitment process and to find more information regarding promised working conditions.
It is important that when you receive a job offer, you find out at a minimum the following information:
The name of the employer or company
The state, in the U.S., where the job is being offered
Type of visa offered
The American Consulate in Monterrey, Mexico can verify if the company which you have received an offer from has been authorized to host H-2A or H2-B workers. Currently, during the COVID-19 pandemic, the Consulate does NOT have a telephone line enabled, but it offers help through a WhatsApp account and an email.
