California reaches record number of H2-A visas for migrant workers

California closed 2017 as one of the states with the most migrant workers, mostly from Mexico, who work with an H-2A visa for agricultural jobs.

The recruitment of migrant workers increased by 25%, or 3,212 people, compared to 2016. Since 2011, the recruitment of agricultural workers in the state has increased sevenfold. Currently, California is the state with the fifth largest number of migrant workers.
