Heat prevention guidelines New York City

On June 22nd, 2026 New York City Mayor Mamdani signed an executive order on extreme heat prevention. In doing so, the mayor and other government officials recognized how hazardous extreme heat can be to workers and the disproportionate impact on Black and Latino workers’ exposure to heat and heat-related illness.

This executive order is part of a bigger plan that was initiated earlier in June, where New Yorkers were encouraged to stay alert and be aware of heat exhaustion symptoms.

Justice on the way: Marina and her commitment to help her siblings advance

My name is Marina, I am originally from Hildalgo, a few years ago I decided to migrate to the United States for necessity, owing to the fact that I have been without a mother since I was very young and I didn’t have anyone who could take care of my younger siblings. Because of this, I had to migrate to the United States to give them a better quality of life. My goal was that my siblings could study, so that they could lead a better life, eat well, and have an education.
