Some Options for Migrant Workers to Access Health Services in the US

Our world is in the midst of a global health crisis. And in these times, the health and safety of migrant workers is a priority. The migrant population constitutes a significant part of the workforce, and as working people, they deserve the same right to have a safe and healthy workplace.

The U.S. Consulate in Monterrey has announced that starting March 18, and until further notice, it is suspending routine immigrant and non-immigrant visa services. 

This includes suspending interviews in the CAS and the different consulates in Mexico. 

At the moment, they are working on changes to the procedures of the H-2 visa system.

COVID-19: Attention Migrant Workers with an H-2A or H-2B visa application

The global COVID-19 pandemic has caused a lot of uncertainty across borders and for anyone considering going to work in the United States. On March 18, 2020, the U.S. Consulate in Monterrey announced that it will only process H-2 visas for workers who meet ALL of the following requirements: 

  • Had an H-2A or H-2B visa that expired in the last twelve months,

  • Are applying for the same visa, and
