El programa, que tiene fallas estructurales, se ha triplicado en tamaño en la última década, y se espera que continúe expandiéndose, poniendo en riesgo a muchos trabajadores migrantes.
El programa H-2A ofrece algunas protecciones clave en vivienda, transporte y salarios, entre otros, los empleadores no siempre los han respetado.

August 30, 2019 - Every year hundreds of thousands of H-2A migrant agricultural workers travel to the United States from their home communities, most of them in Mexico. The program, which is structurally flawed, has tripled in size in the last decade, and it’s expected to continue expanding, putting many migrant workers at risk.
While the H-2A program offers a few key protections in housing, transportation, and wages, among others, employers have not always abided by them.

New Law Proposed to Protect Workers from Heat Stroke

Heat stroke is a severe, but completely preventable, disease that can result in death. This disease happens when someone spends too much time in the sun in very strong heat. Each year, about 600 people in the United States die of heat stroke. It is twice as likely that a Mexican-American will suffer a death related to heat stroke. This is largely because a significant portion of this community works outside in the sun and under extremely difficult conditions.
